Where are your sights for that home business? Are you going to be satisfied paddling around the water? Are you saying to yourself: I have to get to the top. Will you be happy getting to the first or second plateau? The answers to these questions will determine your commitment and drive.

There is nothing wrong with saying you would be glad to have a part-time home business. If that is your level of commitment, then so be it. You probably won’t get rich at this level but it will give you extra income. At this level you might be making some crafts to take to occasional craft shows.

The next plateau might be something like making candles. You make a few samples and get 2 or 3 shops to sell them. You get them set up with a nice variety of candles. Then you wait until the shops need more before you get working again. You don’t go out recruiting new business.

The next ridge is a little more intense but not over powering. Whatever the business, you work at it pretty much full time. You solicit new business with adds. You make product so you have a some made as orders come in. You are making a nice income at this level.

The peak is where you put your all into the business. You have help making product. You advertise heavily. You are a member of the chamber and the BBB. You network to get the word around. You and your business are one!
